LGA 775 Motherboards with AGP Slots

Yesterday i made a thread about Socket 478 motherboards with PCI-E slots, but i decided to some some more research and make a list of the oposite, LGA 775 motherboards with AGP Slots, these are more common than Socket 478+PCI-E mobos, but also interesting at some point

All chipses used on these motherboards supports Windows 9x, but i can't guarante other devices does like onboard audio or network

Some Intel 865 and VIA chipsets boards might support Dual Core, 65 nm CPUs or even Core 2, but it depends of the motherboard model. There are at least vey few boards with Core 2 Quad Support (AsRock 775i65G R2.0/3.0 and AsRock ConRoe865PE afaik). Ethier way, check CPU support of the motherboard

OS Support for these boards:
Windows NT 4 (at least on Intel and VIA boards, onboard audio/lan may not work)
Windows 98 SE/ME (most of the boards supports/can work with Windows 9x)
Windows 2000
Windows XP
Windows Server 2003
Windows Vista/2008

Windows 10 up to version 1511 (1607 and newer dropped AGP support making 10 unusable on these systems)

WARNING - NON AGP chipsets:
These are boards which seems to have AGP, but is not actually AGP, but rather an implementation of it using PCI bus or PCI-e bus, they are not real AGP slots, these slots don't run as well as real AGP slots and they have also compatibility issues, they generally use non AGP chipsets. I would recomend avoiding them if you want to build an AGP rig.

To me personally, the interesting ones of these are actually the s775 boards that have AGP and will work with Core. This would make the list almost completely vaporise though 🤣.

I'm pretty sure these fit that bill:

For sure the 4CoreDual-VSTA (I have it). It will take up C2Q6600 that I know of.

I updated the list and colored each mobo model acording to max CPU support, look at the main post

Does the BIOS recorgnize the CPU properly? and are you using an stock or modded BIOS?

Stock bios - haven't updated or checked version. It shows "Pentium D 945 @ 3.40GHz"

Hi I've got rev 1.0 of ECS 865PE-A7 board that officially supports only 90 nm P4/Celerons and must note that without modified bios I'm now running 65nm Pentium 4 651 3.4/800 in it. EIST and hyperthreading works OK. Maybe it could handle some Pentium D, but I wouldn't risk anything higher than 9xx with 95W TDP.

One missing seems to be the AsRock ConRoe865GV. Limited to Conroe E4000 series optimal because of the 800MHz FSB.

Thanks guys for this topic, I found it via google. It is really great and has lots of useful info. I collecting rare hardware and it just gave me an idea, that I also need the latest and fastest AGP motherboard. I just ordered an ASRock 775i65G R3.0 motherboard, since it is cheap and still available as new! Maybe I will just keep now in box unopened or later I will setup with a Voodoo 4.

It's nice to see a few boards support core2 instead of the terrible asrock boards.

May be tough to find a lot of them these days. That being said you can pretty much find any 775 pci-e board and a pci-e version of the same gpu as well if you really wanted.

@Auzner You should try Throttlestop program to stabilize that X6800 on 3,2 GHz.
It enables Windows OC with multiplier and Vcore adjustment on the fly.

i just setup osx Leopard on my Asus P5PE-VM
ive got it configured with an X6800 Core 2 Extreme Processor (65nm)
its strange to see intel core 2 duo paired with AGP
but that is exactly what this board is..
1066 FSB as long as u use an AGP 8x graphics card, w/ a pair of DDR400 RAM (2GB max)
i just wish this board supported more ram (4gb or 8gb)
