does it enhance the game anyway when compared to d3d/3dfx without mmx? or does it enchance d3d/3dfx when used together with them?

I remember P.O.D. and Bluebyte's Extreme Assault are said to make use of the MMX-specific instructions, including graphics acceleration. But not sure of the exact technical details.

Extreme Assault uses MMX for filtering the low resolution explosion sprites.

Also wherever robertmo's getting his list... is a huge '[citation needed]'. The list will grow and more time will be spent debunking whether it supports it or not. I have a PowerVR PCX2 so obviously I can help on the PowerVR SGL side of things. Remember to not source from early hype - Mechwarrior 3 for example said to support PowerVR, but the final releases are all D3D only.

Yup POD had MMX acceleration. Was also a bundled OEM title with some Pentium II's with less tracks. POD 2.0 (Gold) had ATI Rage acceleration too as well as Voodoo, D3D and MMX.

I just gather in one place info scattered in a few vogons threads. I removed games that have 3dfx or d3d or opengl support. I also removed some games that looked unreleased.
I don't think the list will grow much as all more modern games have d3d support and a lot of older games have 3dfx support, so it will be just games from about 95-98 that had no 3dfx support.
I expect the list to shrink mostly, as i guess some of these games were planned for some card but eventually not supported or supported d3d and/or 3dfx.
Of course I may be wrong so you can convince me that i am wrong flooding the thread with missing titles winking face

What about games with many proprietary renderers like Mechwarrior 2. Or Tomb Raider, I would like to see that announced Trident 3Dimage port.
You can add Croc and Actua Soccer (Club Edition or both?) for Virge.
More Papyrus games for Verite and Quake 1 and 2.
Creep Clash and Sento (oldest accelerated game?) for Matrox 3d Impression and following cards.

That's a cool list grinning face.
However, I know for certain that Syndicate Wars never had an accelerated version/patch, so you should remove it from the S3 Virge games. I'm also not sure at all about Virtua Fighter and Alien Trilogy!

I can vouch for the MechWarrior 2, ATI Rage version.

There was also an Activision futuristic roller-derby game called HyperBlade for ATI 3D Rage as well.

There are versions of MechWarrior II for for almost every card of the time.

Delta Force (the original) was also "MMX enhanced," though it wasn't until its sequel (Delta Force 2) that the series would get hardware 3D graphics acceleration (via Direct3D).

GUIs and reviews of other random stuff

Grand Prix Legends supports only Rredline and Glide so I think that could be on the Verite list. Especially since it might be the best looking Rredline game.

Later it got modern Opengl and DirectX7 renderers as well. GPL had such a wonderful community.

If memory serves, one of the Deltaforce titles even required MMX - we went mad, when we couldn't get it to run on one guys Pentium 200 (sans MMX) at a LAN party back in the days and couldn't figure out the reason. I'm not sure if that was the original Deltaforce already though.

Then there was a Glide-only version of Need for Speed II and the original Turok has at least renderers for 3Dfx (Glide) edit: Ah, never mind, didn't see that you've excluded Glide, PowerVR (SGL?) and a special path for Ati's Rage Pro in addition to Direct3D.
