What can i say? I'm a sucker for ABIT, and i bought another Abit 486 mbo, and i have problems. This time, there are all the data on retroweb, but i cannot get the DX4 to work on 100MHz, only on 66MHz (with JP63 jumper on)?!? Is there anybody who has same motherboard, and show me the jumper settings?
Thanks in advance 😀

After a good sleep, i finally managed to get this baby working on 100 MHz!!!! JP 26 and 27 are shorted, and JP63 is open!!!! Tried every combination until successfully POSTED with 100 MHz 😀
If someone has same problem, i will take a picture with this combination if that can help!
Thanks

Now i have another problem 🙁 !!!!!
I cannot save anything in BIOS settings, because when i save it, MBO starts to beeps 3 short beeps all the time. I need to clear cmos in order to post again???? I tried to leave everything as it is, and press save and exit, and it has same result - beeps! Can someone help me with that? What could cause this error?
Thanks in advance

Do you have a POST card? What is the exact BIOS version that you are running?

40-PBGJ-001247-00101111-072594-SIS471G-U - this was the BIOS on the board. Right now, i'm trying to erase eprom and flash it again (from retroweb), in case something is wrong with this one on eprom. Can i try award bios from this site? I don't have post card 🙁

With Award BIOS it restarts all the time, or stops at system configuration, so no, it's not good 🙁
Now i'm erasing the eprom again to flash AMI bios again, but this time from retroweb, not backup bin file i made from this pc
EDIT - same thing with this same BIOS from retroweb 🙁 - but something change when i tried to set jumpers for cache!!!! It was set to 32kB, but this is 256kB, and when i set the jumpers as in manual JP1 and JP2 to 2-3, 42 to 1-2 and 44 to 2-3, now it saves BIOS, but it doesn't show picture after POSTing ok. When it loads something from the floppy, there is only blank screen.....

No picture when passes the POST screen (monitor shows OSD message for finding optimal resolution and stays black), and cannot reset the PC, only shut down on switch. Tried with good known VLB card, but it won't POST at all??? Had similar problem with my other ABIT 486 board (PW4), but i checked all the traces from ISA to VLB,(first 30), and it is all OK. Is there something in this AMI BIOS, some settings that "allows" VLB card to operate (BUS speed or something)?
Or maybe the problem is still in jumpers, 'cause the board worked fine with DX2-66MHz (didn't try VLB graphics...) - when i disable external cache, it works with VLB!?! This is 256kB (8 chips of 32kx8)???

It was jp45!!! it needs to be in 2-3 position, and the cache enable works! It's not in the manual 😀
