Hey, I bought one of these systems that i think it is one of the best pc case designs in history because of how it looks.

the model its an aptiva ps/1 model 2168 and it came with a 486 50mhz cpu.

my problem is that i think ibm released so many of these aptiva during years that its difficult to me to find out what was the original monitor, the original mouse, and the original keyboard, and what are the original speakers. because in that era they changed the designs a lot from one year to another

The keyboard i am 100% sure it was a Model M2,
but not sure what mouse model and what monitor model it came with. and i would like to retore it completely.

also the hard drive came intact with the recovery folder in the hdd, the sad thing is that it was made in mexico and came with the win 3.1 in spanish. and i would like to know if its possible, maybe someone here has the exact same system with the recovery folder with the ENGLISH version of win 3.1 perhaps you can share a copy of the recovery folder files.

Another thing i would like to know is how do i enter the BIOS? i can't find a key combination that will let me go into the bios

Im asking this because my plan is to buy a model m2 keyboard, ibm mouse, and speakers to make it full original, but i need the matching models.

if there is any IBM love in the forum that can help please post with pictures or model numbers of the original accessories that came with it.

thank you

Have you got the IBM service manual for it yet? It may well have the part numbers of the mouse and monitors available for it at the time it went in to production.

Have a look at this link...

https://oldcomputer.info/pc/ps1_2168/index.htm

...yours appears to be a PS/1 (rather than Aptiva) Model 2168. According to the service manual (follow the 'More files' link), the mouse is p/n 93F2379 and the keyboard will be region specific as listed. Don't see anything on this link monitor-wise tho.

thanks. the manual also shows a drawing of the monitor. it will be helpfull. it is a surprise that the mouse is that model, i though the ps/1 mouse was the bulky one with long buttons

I had one of these, 486 DX2 50 Mhz. Boy, that steel case is a tank! The sliding door was super cool too. Wish i still owned it.

Ours didn't come with sound or CD, only a modem (2400 baud, useless even at time of purchase, my parents had no idea what they were buying), later added a SB16+4x upgrade.

The keyboard was M2, it had a 'ping' sound when you hit a key, I can't find an example of this on youtube so perhaps this was a certain revision.

BIOS access was with like F1 or F10 iirc...

P2-V2: Dell Dimension - 400 Mhz, Voodoo2, 256 MB

It's not allowed to ask for or share copyrighted material on this website. That's why posts about old games get nuked every now and then...

I've noticed links to system restore media for systems has been allowed in the past Anders.

Saying that recovery media has most likely been put on archive.org already or can be found on a dedicated IBM PS/1 site which has been linked to a number of times in the past....😉
