Bought something, but no clue what. 😁 will need some detective work. It's quite big though, and judging from the battery compartment, it should be able to do stand alone work.
Guessing collecting some data. Looks like there is a parallel port connection on the top and infra red.

It's like a 10 usd lottery ticket. 😁

I think it is swedish, judging from the letters Å, Ä and Ö in the keypad. Company name printed in the PCB seems swedish too (AB=aktiebolag). Maybe it is some kind of programming console for industrial machinery? Interesting piece.

I'd put my money on it being some sort of industrial robot arm controller.

Bought an MOS 8500 CPU. It is a socket pulled one and is tested. Plus it was the cheapest offering out there. Now I only need to source the kernal/character/basic roms and S-Ram module. Then I have a full set og Commodore64 chips. I just had to find all chips, in NOS and Mint condition, before they are all sold.

The plan is to buy modern replacements as much as I can. That means S-Ram and not D-Ram, eliminating the VSP-Bug.

But, D-Ram and S-Ram needs very different controls .. Is there also other controllers for that?

If it's dual it's kind of cool ... 😎

There are modern alternatives, that replaces the D-Ram with S-Ram. The reason is to get rid of the VSP-Bug that plauges some C64's. If a C64 have a VSP-Bug, you will have certain games or other type of software crashing.

This is one such example of modern S-Ram replacements...
https://www.polyplay.xyz/RAM-Replacement-for-C64C

Take note, that it will only fit in machines that uses two ram chips and not earlier models, such as the 250407 boards. However with a bit of modding (actually a fair amount), you can have it fitting in a 250407 board. 😉

Won a very nice condition PC9821-CE2 on YA, for a decent price. Certainly cheap enough to makeup for the crippling shipping fees.

I didn't *need* it but a tiny part of me allways wanted to own atleast one Japanese home computer and since these are somewhat close to our old MS-DOS machines here, I thought what better machine?

A bit of variety is always nice!
What are its specs?

I just received a NEC G8WMP card and I don't even own a PC98xx to put it into...
nec g8wmp.jpgnec g8wmp ports.jpg

I bought two POST cards recently, a PCI one and a PCI/ISA one, I'll make a thread about the latter cause it really fucked up my Asus P55T2P4 motherboard...
POST ISA front.jpg

Sorry for being so late :(

It's a 486SX25 based machine, with onboard 86Audio and 6MB ram. Modestly specc'd for what it is, I suppose. Built in sound was a must have for me.

Very nice board back in the day for Celeron overclocking.
Only downfall is the first revision that does not support the 1/4 PCI divider making it bad for OC beyond ~112MHz.

Prices for retro gaming stuff is going up, which is most likely due to all the people cooped up from Covid. I'm guessing lots of people have time on their hands now and want to re-visit their youth.

I was just looking at prices for 3DFX cards on eBay and they are nuts.

Today I scored a nice mid-90s HDD from the local recycling centre:

The attachment IIMG_20201012_134506_1.jpg is no longer available

It spun right up! It's a lovely 1GB 3600rpm Conner drive. Surface scanning is still in progress, but it looks to be in perfect condition. Still has a bunch of files on it from a Win95 install, but nothing of particular interest (no rare software, sigh) so next step is a full wipe and then returning it to active duty!

Not bad for $4 eh?

Managed to convince the CEO of the recycling center to let me into the E-waste section and recover this:

Had Some good bits in it:

Gavit it a bit of a tidy up:

Works fine for a PC that's been sitting in the rain for weeks. Unfortunately the PSU seems kaput, but I had a spare AT supply.

In case anyone interested, I have managed to open up more this handheld computer, next step would be to start it up.
One picture is the back of the display and the other is the other side of the main board. The eeprom is on the other side of it.
According to the printing it should run HDOS, most probably 3.0

Great haul!

That Vibra 16S looks just like the one I had as a kid. It's rare to see one of those with genuine OPL3 nowadays. The ESS688 card is very nice too.

Yup. 3dFX prices have just gone up and up the last +6 years. Nothing to do with Covid-19. Actually it is surprising that prices have not gone down, because of all the people goobally, that struggle with making ends meet. One would think that people want to sell and flooding the market, making prices go down. You can eat bread, however chips and PCB's is kind of tough to digest.

Got this MX11800 a while ago for a bit over 1€, managed to deep-clean it (it was really needed!) so now it looks and works pretty good, apart from the trackball which was missing from the start, so if anyone got a spare trackball assembly please give me a shout 😀
