Use a very sharp razor or a thin x-acto knife to separate the legs, and do not be anal about bending them to proper shape, just separate them.

And do it very slowly.

Let's get some Japanese retro computing up in here'!

Won a very nice condition PC9821-CE2 on YA, for a decent price. Certainly cheap enough to makeup for the crippling shipping fees.

I didn't *need* it but a tiny part of me allways wanted to own atleast one Japanese home computer and since these are somewhat close to our old MS-DOS machines here, I thought what better machine?

A bit of variety is always nice!
What are its specs?

I just received a NEC G8WMP card and I don't even own a PC98xx to put it into...

The attachment nec g8wmp.jpg is no longer available
The attachment nec g8wmp ports.jpg is no longer available

I bought two POST cards recently, a PCI one and a PCI/ISA one, I'll make a thread about the latter cause it really fucked up my Asus P55T2P4 motherboard...

The attachment POST ISA front.jpg is no longer available

1. What exactly does that NEC card do? Looks like it has an input and an output.

2. Did you install the PCI/ISA POST card the wrong way in an ISA slot?

1. I have no idea, indeed it does look like an input, or a passthrough perhaps...
2. nope it was correctly oriented, wait for the thread.

This NEC card is similar to this https://vgamuseum.ru/gpu/matrox/nec-g8ydq-mat … d-nec-d95177gn/ except for the VGA chip used .

Those cards with the black connector. Are they twin CGA cards in SLI? 😆

3270 PC had a special 1, 2 or 3 piece graphic adapter which was a CGA/MDA combo but not 100% compatible with either.

Believe in a 9821 system it only functions as a Windows accelerator and needs the motherboard video output for DOS.

So when I sum all the costs, I got all this for around 70-75 USD, and if I can make a single working PC from all this it could be a nice non-3d gaming rig 😀

Welcome!
That's a great haul you got there!

Just one little thing - FSP power supplies from that era tend to have really bad caps, so don't be surprised if you start having stability issues. Finding replacements isn't hard though, socket 7 isn't power hungry.

Thanks for the tip, any idea what to look for if I need to get another PSU ? 20A on 5v with modern PSUs seems quite rare (750W+ high end units and similar have it), so how low can I go ?
Or even better, if anyone recently put up together a s7 build with a brand new PSU from the shop, don't hesitate to let me know what you are using.

My main concern is to minimize the chance of PSU taking everything with it if it dies 😉

FSP400-GHN is my go-to retro PSU. 23A on the 5V rail, 5V load does not impact the 12V rail, good price and 80+ bronze. From what I've seen on Youtube Corsair PSUs seem to handle retro builds pretty well too, even the lower-end ones.

My builds!
The FireStarter 2.0 - The wooden K5
The Underdog - The budget K6
The Voodoo powerhouse - The power-hungry K7
The troll PC - The Socket 423 Pentium 4

got this little hunk of plastic today :3
it had been modded on the left side so there's a hole there, but that's way easier to fix than the other case I found for a reasonable price, that had the whole floppy section cut out ^^

Today I bought a set, of nearly every Commodore64 chips, for my SixtyClone project. Well. The ones I was missing.
I had the PLA, SID, CIA's and VIC-II bought some time ago. Now I only need to source kernal-rom, character-rom, basic-rom and the memory.
The plan is to buy modern replacements as much as I can. That means S-Ram and not D-Ram, eliminating the VSP-Bug.
Even the RF modulator is a modern replacement solution, that do not have RF-Out, yet will make S-Video and Composit working.

I will have to figure out if I will go with some modern solution like JiffyDos or something or I will go old school original.
The end result will be a nice black motherboard in a nice black case. (SixtyClone-Black-250466-systemboard and Pixelwizzard Black-Case).
Still not sure what I will name the finished machine. Hmmm.... Shall be something nice.

Don't eat stuff off a 15 year old never cleaned cpu cooler.

This IBM 3270 PC (aka IBM 5271). Condition is not perfect, but it's pretty much complete - missing a PC speaker, some screws and ribbon cables... although it will make a good repair/restoration video for a youtube channel I'm thinking about...

Wow, what a great catch. Yeah, I'd love to see a breakdown video of it. These XT machines are really fascinating.

Bought a semi-surprise package today in the form of a yellowed Targa case containing an Asus A8N-SLI Premium, Radeon X850 *something* and an Athlon64 3500+ (Venice)

No pictures of the inside at all were given, so I have no idea how good (or bad) the caps'n'stuff are gonna look. Luckily, regarding the 1.50€ + postage price tag, the risk is manageable. 😁

Bought something, but no clue what. 😁 will need some detective work. It's quite big though, and judging from the battery compartment, it should be able to do stand alone work.
Guessing collecting some data. Looks like there is a parallel port connection on the top and infra red.

It's like a 10 usd lottery ticket. 😁

I think it is swedish, judging from the letters Å, Ä and Ö in the keypad. Company name printed in the PCB seems swedish too (AB=aktiebolag). Maybe it is some kind of programming console for industrial machinery? Interesting piece.
