When i opened the PC to clean it, i found with something really stupuid, the builder of that PC at the time, put an sticker over the CPU die making it less effective to cool

socket 462, chipset KM266, southbridge VT8235 with PC/PCI support. See the SB-link header near the battery. Will test in a few days. 😀

Card sounds okay. Not much difference between it and your average SB16. May even be a bit noisier. Without a wavetable header, its utility is limited. Still, I knew going in that its value to me would be primarily historic.

A followup on this one.

I received the box and unlike most of the boxes I've seen online, it didn't have the model number anywhere. On the card itself, there wasn't even a sticker. We had to hunt down the part number - it was in very tiny print elsewhere on the card itself. Turns out it is in fact the 4670 with 1GB. The card didn't even look used. Came with all packaging and manuals. I'm really pleased about this.

The card has a nifty little jumper that allows you to enable or disable the HDMI audio device. It's also fairly unique in that you get DVI, VGA, and HDMI all on the same card while still connected via AGP.

BlackWingCat's modified Win2k Radeon drivers (10.x) plus KB888111 made this card work perfectly.

Occasionally, when the computer starts up, the card will complain about the 4-pin power connector not being connected. I suspect that might be because of the small power supply that came with the case. I'm going to replace the existing 300W with a 450W and see how that changes things. For now, I just keep resetting until it boots. SFX power supplies aren't as plentiful as ATX ones. But this is what I get when I use a small case.

We've gone a little out of scope (originally this was supposed to be retro-capable but now it's kind of a monstrosity) but it's been fun.

And the next, new "family member" Yamaha SW20... as company for SW1000XG

Not PC related, but I finally came across a portable MD player/recorder from 1998 in okayish condition for next to nothing. It's a Sony MZ-R35, paired with a slim RM-MZ4R controller. Came with a chopped power cable and a dead battery (Sony LIP-12(H) Li-Ion, 1350mAh). A bit of cable soldering on its power supply brick, some cleaning and polishing, some battery dremeling and replacement of the 18650 element inside it with a Samsung 2200mAh (from my e-cigarette... vaping is cool after all 🤣 ) and it appears to be working as good as new, with minimal mechanical noise, even remembering date/time... Hope to get some new blank MD discs soon, to test its recording capability. It also features an optical audio input! I love it 😵

Got a VP-1000, the fist consumer grade laserdisc player! It ways in at a little lass then 50lb and uses a gas laser!

Here is a photo of it in use. the video and sound it amazing for it being 36 years old. But the photo does ot little good, can't really take a good photo of a crt from a suckphone.

Are you sure that's a real SB link?
I've downloaded the manual of the L7VMM2 v1.0, and it seems there is no SB link...

Those pins are not marked in the manual. That ectual picture, shows some extra that is missing from the manual.
If you look in the manual, the spot I am referring to, is between JP4 and the Speaker-Header.

I have only SC55-mkII 🤣

I already have a P166MMX but couldn't let this system go by for $50 locally. It was listed simply as a "Windows 98 PC" and came with a monitor and AT keyboard. The monitor is very simular to the el-cheapo I had in '93 and works well, but oh boy is it primative. It won't be replacing my Philips 107E5 anytime soon.

The seller said he bought this system in 1996 with the intention of doing some hobbiest music production - the date code on the CD-ROM is '97 and it's running Windows 98, but obviously they could have been added later.

Whatever its history it's a nice example of a mid to late 90's clone - P166MMX, 32MB 72 pin RAM, Cirrus Logic VGA (gives a nice image), and an AWE64 Value. I was pleased with the sound card - I haven't seen one of these "in the wild" before.

The motherboard is interesting-ish. It's a Houston Tech M530 (PC Chips) which can take 168pin DIMMs and a 512k pipeline burst cache module - included fortunately. The case will clean up nicely and it all works well - it runs DOOM anyway, which is the important thing.
