I'm having trouble justifying rescueing anymore PC compatibles because I basically have what I was after now.
So I was wondering... How massive has your collections become? What are you looking for next?
I currently have:
1995 Packard Bell 812CD (100mhz Pentium)
1996 Packard Bell Platinum 55 (200mhz Pentium MMX)
1999 Dell Dimension XPS T500 (500mhz Pentium III)
199x IBM PC300gl (300 mhz Pentium II)
1984 IBM PCjr (Which is barely PC compatible at all. 🤣) (4.77mhz 8088)

My newer PC compatibles are:
IBM Thinkcenter 8183 (3Ghz 32bit Pentium 4)
Compaq 7100 SFF (3ghz 64bit Hyper Threaded Pentium 4)
Custom XP gaming computer (2.6Ghz AMD Athelon 64 X2 5000+)
Faux Retro desktop computer (3ghz E8400 Core 2 Duo)

I've been wanting a 386 or a 486 computer but I've been thinking about all these computers and how much I actually use them, I'm hoping the size of some of you're collections will make me feel a bit better about mine. 🤣

Check me out at Transcendental Airwaves on Youtube! Fast-food sucks!

Last count assembled and servicable:

6 486s Various clone/OEM sytems
1 386DX25
1 286/12 Zenith
1 XT-Turbo with clone EGA graphics
1 Pentium 1 75Mhz Compag all-in-one
5 or so s/skt 7s
1 PII 300Mhz IBM PC300GL
A crap load of P4s of varying speed in various states of repair.
1 Athlon something.
1 Pentium Pro Intergrah box

The 286, an all-in-one Compaq 486DX2/66, a HP 200mmx slimline thingy with RH 7.3, IBM PII with win98FE with fully functioning usb support and this hacked together P4 Linux shit box get the most use.

Last new x86 machine I bought new was 1990 so most my hardware has cost next to nothing or been free because it's been replaced and deemed too old by the previous owner.

Of course I can run Dos and Windows3./9x on my Acorn RiscPC with it's StrongArm card in a pinch using an x86 co-pro if the old boxen vanish 😉

There's a glitch in the matrix.

Apparently 32-bit is dead and nobody likes P4s.
Of course, as always, I'm open to correction...😉

Actually plugged in and set up for use:

IBM 5150
Tandy 1000RL
Custom AMD 5x86 "486" box
Custom Dual Pentium 233MMX box
Custom Tualatin P3 1.4GHz box
HP Atom-Something SFF box mounted on back of workshop TV
Acer Atom-Something Netbook for ADTPro with IIgs
MacBook Pro 13" Late 2011
Custom Core i5 2400 gaming desktop.

So I don't think you're crazy! 😜

What I want next is a Socket 8 motherboard so I can make use of my Dual P-Pro 200 chips.

Mine is rather small compared to yours, and not enough older machines as I'd like:
"Adopted" PC (not really mine, from uni, but it stays under my desk and... its basically mine: 133MHz Pentium)
Compaq Deskpro 2000 (200MHz Pentium MMX - my current "retro focus")
ECS G220 Laptop (1.7GHz Pentium M)
My old custom XP PC (2.0GHz Athlon 64 3000+)
My old custom first dual-core PC (2.66 Core2 Duo E6700, formely 3.0 GHz Pentium D)

Other than that I have my current machines:
My main gaming PC (4.0GHz Haswell i7 4790K)
My older gaming PC (3.4GHz Sandy Bridge i7 2600)
Cheap Acer notebook (Nehalem 2GHz Pentium Dual Core)

I need to build a P3 machine eventually. My dad still had my old 700MHz P3 up until 4/5 years ago, but eventually sold it as he deemed it a waste of space... It was basically useless for eveyday usage by then, but I have way to many fond memories of that machine... Probably the most fun I ever had tinkering with a PC was creating a "faux"-quadruple boot (triple boot in reality, W2k, NT 3.51 and Win98... but I had patched IO.SYS so MS-DOS 7.10 could also start Windows 3.11).

Not counting the ones I don't really care about or are not in regular service at the moment.

Toshiba T2150CDT (486 DX4 75MHz)
IBM Thinkpad 755CD (486 DX4 100MHz)
Packard Bell Legend 300CD (Pentium 60MHz)
Compaq Prolinea 5100e (Pentium 100MHz)
Dell Optiplex GXi (Pentium 200MHz)
Gateway 2000 G6-200 (Pentium Pro 200MHz)
Gateway 2000 Solo 2300 (Pentium MMX 200MHz)
IBM Thinkpad T42 (Pentium M 1.7GHz)
Dell Dimension 4700 (Pentium 4 HT 2.8GHz)
Custom-built i5 2500 desktop (replaced my old Q6600-based system)
Sony Vaio i5 laptop

Right now I'm looking to build a nice Pentium II system. Preferably with Voodoo 3 and Windows 98SE.

If everything is done:

1. V-tech Laser 8086 XT/3 10Mhz (didnt planned this one, but dont going it selling either) Its nice to have an 8086 & a 8088 😎
2. ST JUKO XT 8088 (now its 8mhz, but i hope these can make 10 mhz also)
3. 286 12Mhz machine (processor would be an AMD one)
4 386 DX 40Mhz machine
5 486 machine (dont know how much Mhz it would be (but iam think 100Mhz or so)
6 Pentium 1 machine 233mmx (would be an windows 95 machine.
7. (was a Pentium II machine, but now its an Pentium III 550Mhz machine instead.(because an PIII would just more run software, then a PII would)
8. Would be an Athlon 64 S939 with dual boot windows 98se / WinXP
9. Intel Core I7 2600K (i have made this machine to go online like steam, and would also be 32-bit OS compatible (so also an 32-bit file transfer machine)
These are all my vintage machines.

10. My main computer is still a Intel Core i5 2500K what is still fast enough for the internet and games iam playing.
Further no surprises from my side (are machines enough)

If i want i can make more systems, but want to hold it compact as possible. But these machines i have would cover it all..

~ At least it can do black and white~

Not that easy to count.

Right in front of me I have:

486/33
486/120
Old Core2 laptop that overheats like crazy
Q9550 (my main machine)
Newer Core2 laptop
P3 based celeron HP OEM machine
XP netbook (don't remember the specs)

In the other room there is a Core2 duo rig and an Athlon X2
And two P4s that are not in use

Upstairs there is who knows what. I know there is an Athlon and atleast 4 more P4s (blech)
A non-working Packard bell 486/25 with overdrive
A Pentium 1 with Windows 95
Three Pentium 2 laptops (one dead)
Probably an OEM P3
P2 desktop
Another Athlon X2 w/Windows 7 (nice thrift store find)
Dead P4 laptop
Athlon XP rig missing an HDD
Plus lots of parts

I know there is more but I can't think of it right now

I actually had to think about it a little bit, but in terms of what I could power-up and actually use right now (but may not be hooked up):

- My new main PC (Core i5 with Windows 7)
- My main "retro" PC (dual Xeon with XP)
- My secondary "retro" PC (Pentium 4 Willamette with 98SE)
- The "quiet box" (Pentium 4EE and XP)
- Secondary desktop computer (Core 2 with Windows 7)
- Personal laptop (Core i5 with Windows 7)
- Secondary laptop (Pentium dual-core with Windows Vista)

That makes seven. Not all of this as at one desk/workstation either. There's probably as many (if not more) in bins as spares too (which is also where the "older stuff" is). In terms of "next up" I'm plotting a CrossFire machine using some of the parts left-over from my old main PC, and perhaps finishing the MMX that's been sitting in my garage for a year now. 🤣

Desktops:
1. Phenom II X4/Windows 7 - main PC
2. Phenom II X4/Vista+XP - secondary PC + EAX4
3. Prescott P4/2000+XP - camcorder tape archiving + DX8/EAX2
4. Athlon XP/Windows 98 first ed - glide/DOS/early DX games
5. Pentium 4-ISA box/Debian+2000+DOS

Number 5 is my only box with ISA slots but it's taking up precious room for limited marginal functionality: linux feels sluggish on it and running DOS on bare metal doesn't seem as interesting as having a faster Linux box. So may be rebuilt soon with newer components. Or maybe I'll wrap it in cling film and keep pot plants on it.

Laptop:
6. ideaPad/Windows 8.1 - ermmm, never again. Lenovo crap, touchscreen crap, Windows 8 crap.

None, currently.
I have a bunch of x86-based machines, including 8088s, 486es, Pentiums, Pentium Pro, PII, Athlons, P4/D, Core2 Duo and Core i7...
The only thing that should be truly PC-compatible is my IBM 5160 (aside from the lacking tape interface). However, I currently have an ATi Small Wonder videocard in it, rather than a real IBM card, and it is not 100% compatible. It seems to insert some extra waitstates.
Once I have it replaced with an original IBM CGA, the 5160 should be 99.999% compatible with the IBM PC 5150.
I wonder what my other 8088-machines will do with that real CGA card.

I have enough motherboards to build dozens of PC compatibles.

I will eventually have one build per era: XT,286,386,486,Socket7.
I'm not so interested in other time periods.

I've pretty much covered the time period that means anything to me (late 80s - early 2000s), don't plan on any more machines now.

Victor V86P XT/CGA laptop (old and crusty CGA games)
IBM Thinkpad 486 DX4 w/SB16 & CD (Older DOS Adlib games)
K6-3+ on TX, AWE64, GUS, SC55/CM32L/MT-32, Voodoo 1 - Other DOS & early Windows games
Athlon 1200, MX300, GF3, Voodoo2, DB50XG - Windows games

All these are ready to go. Recently I've had a huge clearout as I find I'm happier without piles of unused stuff in the shed/attic. I have a single cardboard box of spare parts.

For recent machines we only have laptops, my other half has a HP i5 laptop with W7 and I've an older Core 2 Duo with Vista.
