Yeah. Fuck that clown. That's probably one of the main reasons I went with a Rage II rather than a Mystique. The Mystique was a good card, but the clown ruined it for me.

I know this post is a few pages back but some of us are busy and only check this thread about 2-3 times a week. Anyway, I just wanted to chime in and also contribute that -YES- this guy is legitimate, and he does send you SIMMconn's if you pay for it and they do work! I have both an AWE64 value card, and also an AWE64 Gold card. Both have SIMMconn's on them. The thing is, the SIMMconn only adds 28MB of memory to the cards for soundfonts, because the original Creative Memory Module was only 28 MB in size, so that's what the cards are programmed to accept, and all they accept. The difference in size is because the Awe64 value only has 512KB onboard so you get 28.5 MB with the SIMMconn. And the AWE64 Gold has 4 MB onboard so you get 32 MB total with that card.

But anyway they do work and they're great for these cards and not too expensive. They also work with fast page ram, and EDO ram, the SimmCONN doesn't care. Just use a single 32MB 72-pin module of any type.

This card arrived DOA. However, I was able to bring it back to life by reflashing the BIOS. I booted the system with a working S3 card and the 3dfx both installed in PCI slots, ran the flash util, crossed my fingers and somehow everything worked out okay. I was pretty worried because the PCI versions of voodoo3 are getting expensive and hard to find.

well, not exactly a "buy" but I just finished my ISAOPL2 card thanks to a friend that send me some needed parts from mouser , the project was on hold for several months...

haven't tested the card yet, I am curious how it sounds 😊

oh yeah, tested it against a SB1.5 in FM stuff , the ISAOPL2 has a richer/deeper output, like the original AdLib IIRC from when I had one 😊

Just a note for anyone who may end up working on the Dell Inspiron 8000, 8100, or probably the 8200; the BIOS will not see the built-in optical drive unless there is a hard drive fitted. You can, however, use a modular bay optical drive without a hard drive. 😀

Picked this up today for 10€. HP Compaq dx2200. Pentium D 3.4 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB HDD. Also, I like the standard HP keyboard and these Logitech mice are fairly good.

Nice foot warmer 😀 Finally, a chance to have a reasonably fast Linux system without risking f***ing up my main computer.

The best part? They have about 15 systems left that no one wants. I think I'm going to pick up one or two more, worth the price in parts alone 😀

Just grabbed the SC-55 MK2 Service Manual from eBay , for 4GBP it was a great deal!
My plan is to scan it so people can download it freely 😁

Pentium Ds are still more than enough for usage as a office and web browsing machine, and it will probably mean that you won't have to use a radiator in the same room as it... :p Nice buy for that price!

I bought a mixed lot of video cards on eBay. I won the auction for $0.99. With shipping, I paid less than $10.

Nothing too unique, but some nice cards to round out my collection. A Diamond Stealth II S220 (Rendition V2100), a Diamond Monster 3D (Voodoo 1), a Diamond Viper V550 (Riva TNT), and a Number Nine Revolution IV are some of the notables.
