I got a Genius soundcard with this chipset, but it's atrociously loud. Does anyone know the right jumper settings to disable the internal amplifier (or any other method to get it quiet, perhaps)?

If it looks similar to this:

THere are two jumpers near the bracket amongts a few caps. You can also see a diagram in the middle of the card.
If the two jumpers are in the upper position then the amplifier is disabled.

You'll also need to use the SETUPSA utility, set treble/bass etc to 0, disable YMersion and 3D enhancements. Set the output type to 'hi-fi'. This will give you clean output without the onboard amp.

If you are squeamish, don't prod the beach rubble.

Yeah, same layout as the one in the pic. I can't believe I missed that diagram! 🤣
With the amp off, it's actually on the edge of being too quiet with headphones, but it's usable now... thanks 😁
