Test runs through as well.
In the meantime, I was able to measure the speed gain for my 3d graphics program: it's a factor 8 to 10. This was well worth it!

Doing one more round; the card will be on GitHub eventually in case somebody would be interested in making one for themselves.
Cool.
Having recently come into possession of a schneider euro pc, this project could come in handy. If I ever get time to verify if the machine is still working.

In case your keyboard membrane and Mylar connectors are beyond repair, have a look here. I also recommend an external ISA bus plane extender.

New board revision neatly installs in the CPU socket, and works at 9.54 MHz without issues now! Even though this is a 8087-2, not a 8087-2. Guess I was lucky that it works without issues at 9.54 MHz even though it wasn't selected / certified for 10 MHz (this is what the -1 version was).
So, ribbon cable is a no-go for 9.54 MHz, even with aluminum fiberglass tape shielding.
Looks very rude to solder an 8087 directly to a PCB.
Definitely disrespects 90% of it's purpose in life as a socket dust cap 🤣 ... but soldering is lower profile and more reliable, anything in plastic boxes you don't wanna be opening more often than you have to, the plastics are getting old.
Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

I should probably have it in a shrine / glass vitrine in my living room... anyhow, I think that it is doing better than on a dump in China from where I got it, basically, even though if it suffers from my rude onto-board soldering. 😁

Hi. Yes, x87 use is pretty niche. The whole mandelbrot, 3D graphics and raytracing stuff can use help of an x87.
The orbit prediction software STS+ that flew on MIR can use x87, too.
I would even say it's a requirement for serious use.
I do still use that program on vintage hardware to check when ISS is above my city.
Then I can listen to it via ham radio on my FM scanner.
Most stargazing programs do use an x87, too, if available.
On Windows 3.1 and 386+, MOD4WIN can use x87 for the IDO filter.
Edit: That little mandelbrot program for Windows 2.0 uses win87em.exe, so it will probably also use a nreal x87 if available.

Edit: Two more come to mind, for Windows 3.0 Real-Mode..
