My memory isn't what it used to be and trying to remember stuff from the 80s is getting more and more difficult...

Speaking of that - a few months ago I pulled out my NES cartridges from the 80's and let my kids play the Legend of Zelda. I was amazed at how I could recall where all the hidden treasures were. Sometimes, it came to me right away, others, it took a few days as the haze in my mind began to clear.

Pictures and sounds really do help in jogging the neurons ! and getting the memories flowing.

I find its the more obscure stuff that I have real issues with, like stepping back into batch files and trying to remember command switches for DOS programs.

Pictures, sounds, and SMELL jog the memory.

You know to this day the smell of old electronics beings back so many good memories, same with the smell of a new car or the smell of old books.

The smell of sheepskin seat covers in a 1970’s Mercedes’ reminds me of the mid-80’s.

Something I was watching:

Socket 8 to socket 370 upgrade adaptor
Sold for $426+9 USD
https://www.ebay.com/itm/146409990823

It would be neat to see a socket 8 upgraded to dual Tualatins.

The attachment Socket8_to_PIII_upgrade.png is no longer available

IIRC, they only work with Celerons - and not in SMP either.

If it's dual it's kind of cool ... 😎

Please use the "quote" option if asking questions to what I write - it will really up the chances of me noticing 😀

My interest dropped considerably. Was there a PIII SMP capable adaptor for socket 8?

I believe there is nothing preventing it from working with P3s except the 66MHz bus speed. That's why the device specified celeron. As for SMP, I have no idea
