I just bought this card from eBay. Intel motherboard, 3 GHZ Intel duo core CPU, I don’t have the chipset number with me but…
Bottom line:
I can’t get load the drivers. “SB16 no DMA channel available” message. This may be impossible with my BIOS but how does one enable “legacy DMA” mode?
Just thought I’d ask before I give up and pull the card.
If your board is using Intel chipset and is beyond 8xx, like 945, then most likely things won't work. A lot of legacy functionalities have been dropped at that point.
The previous posts of the thread mostly covered 845/865 chipsets which still retained a good amount of legacy stuffs like 81x, though it's indeed true that starting with 81x (ICH up to ICH5) DDMA is not supported anymore.
