I had dosbox on my old pc so I decided to get it for the new HP pc i just bought but im having problems with inputting commands into dosbox.
For example when i press the \ key it inputs a ] and ~ returns nothing. It would appear the keyboard is shifted to the right but I have no idea how/if it can be fixed.

Can anyone shed some light on my predicament?

I have a similar issue with an HP desktop PC which I mentioned somewhere in this thread.

You can re-map keys with CTRL-F1, but it is likely a few of them won't be retained from session to session and you will painfully have to remap them each session. HP sucks.

Maybe you can find some other SDL app/game to test the keyboard,
especially checking if SDL_VIDEODRIVER=windib or =directx behave different.
