Hi folks,
I recently picked up a ready-to-go P3 1000mhz build with a rather lacking (Rage II) GPU. So first thing I aimed was to upgrade this. I picked up a cheap GeForce 2 MX400 32mb but when installing it I get zero video, i.e. not even as far as BIOS.
I have managed a couple of times to get it to boot, after resetting CMOS once and another time after I tried cleaning contacts and the AGP port. But on both instances (on the first I was able to install the drivers), shutting down leads me back to the same problem: zero image, will not boot. If I remove the card I can still use the onboard graphics to boot up.
I've tried just about everything I can think to diagnose - the things I mentioned already and updating the BIOS & Chipset drivers, but still nadda. Before I concede on this and get another GPU I wanted to make sure my system would actually even support such an upgrade, I noticed on The Retro Web that it mentions a max of 4mb VRAM but I wasn't sure if this meant the onboard graphics.
Any advice would be great, thanks!
