Yeah that was my first thought when I saw the photos. Those trees should've been felled in advance.

Having trees taken down is expensive A F, and they aren't always on your property either. When a downburst dropped a tree on my car, I took the payout and instead of buying a new car (since it was already the spare) I paid a tree removal company to take down every tree they thought was suspect. Cost $5000, and that was after we shopped around, and agreed to pay the guy in cash. Most estimates were $10,000+.
I guess on the bright side, I ended up with years worth of firewood out of it. Still sucked, and with all the competing things about home ownership that eat money, it's not trivial to throw five figures at a problem that might not even be a problem.
