Hi guys,

In their Hardware & Software catalogue (https://archive.org/details/sound-blaster-opt … up?view=theater), Creative has those squarish speakers item#13214 (page 2).

I'm trying to find this set as I used to own it with my very first Sound Blaster card, but I can't figure out how to identify them. IIRC they weren't even Creative-branded, so that doesn't help make the search online easier.

Any ideas?

Cheers!

They were doing Labtec speakers in the 1992 Multimedia kit but they were white ones. That looks a little earlier, so either they were partnered with Labtec previously or only dumped them around 93 or 94 when they got their own manufacturing going, or had enough order volume for Labtec to to a run with their branding.

The eye of Sauron (google search by image) didn't bring up anything good, but suggested a pair of plainly wrong Altec Lansings, but that reminded me that there were some older Altec Lansings in that style. Holy crap, someone said the other day about store results flooding google now, yah, really doesn't want to show you anything that's not current stuff for sale with any search that's got "speakers" in it. Dunno if that's google functioning as currently designed, like be a storefront but don't actually have to stock or ship and get cash off the top anyway, or whether SEO has broken it (again)

You, sir, have the eye of a hawk.. Thank you very much!
Now I can see that "Galax" logo in the manual's dark image.

Got me a pair. Man they sound just like I recall. They are not close to any modern setup. But Adlib music sounds so original through them, especially those Adlib drums. I used to have them connected to a regular Sound Blaster, but now I connected them to an SBPro, and they also sound 😙👌

For reference, they need a center-negative AC-DC adapter. They accept 6V-9V, as they have an internal voltage regulator. Their internals are quite busy for such simple speakers, and the speaker cones inside are quite huge. They are very loud, but clear. Though they cheaped out on shielding, as they are picking up radio interference when powered on.

Any suggestions on how to reduce such interference?

Thanks!
