YO YALL I got the drivers working (albeit without soundfonts) in both Windows AND dos! But yeah mo soundfonts and windows keeps crashing
I think the drivers are for the correct card and are vxd drivers. Could be an irq problem given that the sb16 emulation works fine over in irq 9 in dos. Maybe if I move the card to another pci slot something will change. Until then I got the card mostly working. Soundfonts would be great though, I still need some help with those.

how big is the soundfont and how much system ram do you have?

I'm using the ct8mgm soundfont from Joseph's driver package. It's 7.22 mb. Here's what Everest Home Edition says about my ram:

For windows there is an application to set the cache size and select the sound font. Are you using that? I like to use the masterpiece.sf2 which about 24 mb. The one your using should be fine if it’s the right format, sbk or sf2

I'll try that... but Windows started crashing again. I guess I'll uninstall and reinstall the drivers again

Try this.

1. Uninstall all current drivers / software
2. Remove the Live card and all other PCI cards from the motherboard
3. Install the Live card in a different PCI slot
4. Also make sure "PnP OS" is enabled in the BIOS (if there is an option)
5. Install Phils drivers (from step 1 to 😎. It will require multiple reboots during the steps.

Well, something bad happened. Everything was working great until I decided to reboot to dos using the ms dos starter pack from Phil's computer lab. The live! drivers were working in both dos and windows but after I booted to dos and the sv16 emulation drivers were loaded, windows crashed after I tried to load it up from dos with "win". Is there any way I can boot directly to windows? Help!

Okay the dos drivers were messing up windows when they were loaded first so I put a rem before all the set blaster lines. I'm finally back in Windows. The soundfont program says 7.05 megs are allocated but the sound font is 6.22 mb. Can I fix this?

OK everything works for now but I can't hear the differences between soundfonts. Either I'm tonedeaf or I don't understand something or there's something wrong with the drivers again. Maybe I don't have enough ram or something

make sure you have the right midi device selected, its in control panel and the multimedia icon. Could be its using the built in windows roland.
also what are you playing to judge it works or not?

I'm playing Duke 3D 1.3d and Doom 2

dos games in windows also depend on the mpu port assigned typically 330. You can double check its right by the sb16 device in the device manager.
