Got this mid 2000 computer with a ABit Fatal1ty AN8 SLI and a fully working Abit Guru Panel. I think I'll put my X850 PE in it and dual boot Windows 98 (IDE) / XP (SATA). Very excited!

Not sure what the sound card is with the yellow and purple ports is. Maybe some sort of add-on for AN8.

My brother had an AN8 32X board and it was nice but it had plagued caps that were shot after 5-6 years. I tried replacing them but I just could never get the thing to be stable. I didn't have the best tools or technique at the time and I struggled terribly with just getting the awful lead-free solder on those tiny (TINY!) pads to melt without scorching the board. I ended up giving up on it and sending it away in a "for parts" lot several years ago. It's a shame, because it was otherwise a nice board.

Looks like that nuke button sets a overclock preset. That is so cool!. It's actually just to clear the CMOS. Damn

I would have thought the Nuke symbol with CMOS written on it would have been pretty self explanatory as to what that button did 🤣. (Nuke and Pave baby, its the only way to be sure)

Having a Clear CMOS button on the front panel is just sooooo ABiT [when you get too eager in your overclocking endeavours]. I'm loving every part of it 🤣

I bought this Sound Blaster pro 2 ct1600 today for 1 euro, I ask the guy at the thrift store if he had some old pc parts laying arround he said yes and he went to the stockroom and came with a bunch of cards included this one, I ask what he want for it he said 1 euro cause actually my boss said I need to dispose them cause no one is buying those, I wonder what cards are already disposed there?!😢

Unfortunately this is the sad reality that applies not just retro computing but just about any retro / vintage hobby: owner of a specific hardware, either an ordinary person or a small business, might not know its value and/or can't find potential buyers without an ad campaign; OTOH buyers only find promoted ads by professional sellers / scalpers who demand premium prices.

Got this old Dell 1908fpt 19" (5:4) for $26 delivered. Really love these screens for Windows 98 gaming. You can also get a Dell sound bar that connects under the screen. Nice space saver.

Picked up something free from a buddy. Kinda interesting and seems oddly rare. It's a Radeon (R100) 32MB SDR All-in-Wonder PCI version.

Most of the R100 AIW were agp and with DDR, where as this is not only PCI but SDR. 🤔

That sounds like my peculiar MX4000, with its 128MB of RAM and 128 bits no less 🤣

Got my very first SB16 CT1740 with DSP v4.04 (no hanging note bug) and has a ASP/CSP chip as a bonus. Hopefully it's not too noisy.
