Why does vquake not recognise :

r_surfacelookup 0

?

[EDIT] OK I was running beta 6.Newever versions complain about microcode. This sounds oddly familiar.

vquake 1.08 have everything to work on any rendition card under any environment dos / windows / restart to dos .

its designed for v1000 in mind , and first ever release bundled with Creative 3D Blaster PCI.

trying to use other microcode leads to degradation of performance or/and graphics.

Thanks for that Raven-05! My problem is beta 6 runs and anything newer complains about the microcode.

A quick test to help resolve this from a Rendition card owner:

One final vQuake vid (1.08 beta), everything's hunk dory:

Will post another vid once I get AA particles and the Raven-05 underwater res hacks going.

[EDIT]
I'll release an updated alpha tomorrow. There's a lot of code to clean up.

Build with vQuake support (all currently working DOS games confirmed to work correctly):
https://nirvtek.com/downloads/RReady.Alpha.20240702.001.zip
MD5: 3cb2ab212425b119c061b242ded26b93

- vQuake use r_surfacelookup 0 for best performance.
- vQuake AA doesn't work properly
- vQuake Setting video modes not currently supported (the game will default to 768x576).
- vQuake 1.08 is the only version without rendering defects. Earlier betas might don't render correctly.
- Dosbox-Rendition/RReady expect the game name to be cwsdpmi.exe (which is the process which vQuake.exe launches to actually run the game).

Strange the build doesn't run on my Intel HD graphics machines, failing with a DOS GPF, but it does run on my dev machine.

It would be nice to know if anyone else has been able to run it.

[EDIT] It does, botched up Dosbox-Rendition.conf file.

Does particle anti-aliasing work in vquake? I don't think I've seen a single video where it was enabled.

In latest vquake 1.08 its sure works.
It makes rounded (circle) particles instead of square.

I think AA not applies to particles, only particle texture changes.
In vquake Readme some notes about particles not works on some rendition cards.
In my case all my rendition cards show them correctly, both square and rounded

Just like vquake 2, which uses a texture of a circle and renders it on squares.

I take it the highlighted air bubbles are supposed to have soft/rounded edges like in vHexen II?

Once shader based bilinear filtering is working (next on my list), this should smoothen nicely,

Here's the build (r_antialias 7 (and other combos) should work in vQuake):

Dunno.

Nope, I forgot all about that.. That was one I missed in the vquake builds.

I had problems getting sound working. The otvdm 16-bit installer crashes, so I copied the files across from the cd. I'll test it.

Yes it does. It'll run slow though because there're errors in the log file.

The intro videos don't work. Hitting enter repeatedly until you get to the menu and then hitting enter to skip the cutscenes allow entering the game.

I'll fix the logging errors in the next release.
