Hey, I bought an AWE64 Value this week, and I was about to install it, and realised I needed to plug my CD-Roms analogue connector into it, for pass through, right?

So on the AWE64 card, it has a CD-Rom plug, but its the same form factor as a floppy drive power connector. NOT, the kind that is smaller, and keyed (which I associate with CD-Rom connectors).
Does anyone know of adapters that would fix this, not sure what the smaller connectors name is, its 4 pin, fits into a square socket, which is keyed on one side.

Can you post a picture? Every AWE64 that I have worked with has had the "standard" 4-pin connector that most other sound cards use.

You get variances when the card was OEM for Dell or HP etc and they specified a different hookup to match their case hardware.

There were three common styles and you can get them all covered with "Universal CDROM audio" cables like this one...

Note that even if the connector fits, the pins may be arranged differently. Typical symptom is that only one channel can be heard. This is easily fixable with these types of connectors though.

Thanks for the link. Yep, its the black connector on the card, whilst my cable sports the white connector. Looks like I need to order one of these.

Make sure you check the documentation of the sound card to see how the connector is wired up. Look at your CD-ROM to see which are the ground, L and R connections are. There is no standard and the L and R connections can be reversed or worse. If so, you need to get a pin and rearrange the connector pins.

AWE64 Value also had a CDROM S/PDIF header, which is two pins.
