Aaaaand the PSU won't power the mobo. Pressing the ON/OFF switch turns it on and immediately off. 😒

What should I do? Contact Apevia? Ask for a return? Maybe the PSU is defective...

If it clicks when you turn it on and nothing happens it's the PSU safety mode. There is probably a short somewhere.

Wrong connector. He's trying to use the 4 extra power pins from the main atx cable. Not the 12v aux power.
It is a mistake to think you can solve any major problems just with potatoes.

OHHHHH!
Now I feel even dumber! I found a 12V set of 2 4-pin connectors and slid half of them off like the 20+4 connector. Fingers crossed this works xD
EDIT: It powers on!
Aaaand, the PC still freezes. At Windows XP's startup now.
Anyone have v84.20 of the nvidia XP drivers perhaps? I've been linked to a thread on Nvidia's site where folks with similar cards had the same issue and one of these posters said that installing driver version 84.20 fixed it for him, but the link he posted to the driver's download is dead.
v84.20 seems to be available on Nvidias site. Top search in Google..
So few weeks ago decided start building 486 with VLB since this MB popped up on local auction site. Back in days 486 DX2 was my first PC MB bought for my own money. I did not have VLB version though. Also chipset called Hint Made In Japan was intriguing as well.
I hade to buy all components around 486 system. As you can see on the pic AT keyboard adapter is very sketchy. With 20EUR MB price I was hoping to keep it budget build. While CPU, Memory, IO card is relatively cheap I was surprised by ISA VGA card prices. Actually that CL-GD5428 was the cheapest card in my region. Seller accepted my 32EUR offer. It was advertised as working so all good. Today CPU arrived and to my surprise it posted. MB was sold as is.
Unfortunately I could not find manual for IO card. It might be actually thud since even floppy drive did not work.

I don't see it in Google, nor is it the top search.
site:nvidia.com "84.20"
only returns release notes PDFs, too.

Thanks.
Okay, so the problem is just the 6200. No matter what driver I use, the PC freezes. Using the 4 MX, everything's fine, it's just that DirectX 8+ isn't supported.
With that, 3DMark 2001 at 800x600 gave me a score of 3228 marks, which seems very good (for 2001).

I had a quick scan through here but couldn't find it, I might not have looked close enough so it might be worth having another scan.
.I did the first smoke test of my Pc chip M919
With the PCI Diamond S3 Stealth 64 card I just received.
Good news : no magic smoke!
Bad news : I could only test with a 486 SX I had as the motherboard power regulator is dead so... Only 5V CPU allowed for now.
I did order new one on aliexpress but the post stole them so I have to reorder them because I really need them finally.
Once I have all the part correctly working, that will replace the current ALI M1429G based Acer computer.
The M919 + 486SX, RAM run way faster than on that Acer A1GX-2 board + Cyrix 586....

No match on that page...
However after I posted I went and tested card (LPT port) which seemed to be configured and it worked. So card is working. Then spend entire late night searching internet and finally manually probing deferent jumper combinations. No luck.
Then while already bed 1AM while surfing for last time found ebay sale by searching Winbond chip ID i think and found that pic (attached). Had to get up and verify in the middle of night... ...bingo, it worked. So now I'm rocking PicoGUS in 486 and having good life!!
I'm putting here for web crawlers card exact id: "SIO-WB83787-3" So future retro generations can find this pic with jumpers setup - IDE, FDD, Com-s, LPT, game ports should work with this combination.
Today I tried and failed to set up a Toshiba SCSI CD Rom which is within a Texas Travelmate 4000m Dock.
I downloaded the SCSI Driver Disk which added lines to my autoexec bat and config sys.
All seems good when booting.
There is no guarantee the CD Rom actually works!!
When I insert a CD the light stays on constantly.
Would you agree the drive or dock are faulty?
The speakers and amplifier in the dock work.

Got myself my first UV lamp for erasing EPROMs.
It's a 253,7nm wavelength UV lamp (everything under 400nm is good, lower is more effective) meant for sterilizing items. Works really quick - in less than 5min chips are empty.I can definitely recommend it. I got a 8W variant from AliExpress.
I'm not going to put a link here, as it may disappear at any day, but the title is: 8W 6W Ultraviolet Germicidal Light T5 Tube UVC Sterilizer Kill Dust Mite UV Quartz Sterilizer Lamp 220V 110V For Bedroom HomeAnd as a result, i used one M2764 EPROM for my XT-IDE now instead of monstrous W27C256 just for those 4kB of tiny XT-IDE.
Bought some tools container, cut out all the inner compartments and taped it all up with aluminium tape. Had to turn off the lights to be able to shoot a photo showing it working. 😜
All comments by fellow people here are serious! You should not run it naked like i did on test run!
"640K ought to be enough for anybody." - And i intend to get every last bit out of it even after loading every damn driver!
A little about software engineering: https://byteaether.github.io/
Rewired a scart splitter with RCA so that I could play with dual gun con 2s on my PS2 on my BO mx8000. Now I'm rocking Time Crisis 2 with dual guns like a boss.
AST time again...
I want to give the AST 2 MB of RAM instead of the installed 1MB.
There is a slight problem... I cant print money...
The system uses 1x256kbit chips as RAM. 512kb of RAM use !!18!! of these freakin chips...
And because i need 36 of them, the retro resellers decided they cost 3 (to 12) Euros EACH!!!
So... I had to get creative.
I have a 286 donor board from the scrap where all socketed chips are missing and with battery damage.
And it uses the right RAM chips for my AST... Easy decision.
It took me 5 hours to desolder 18 Chips, clean them, test them and find out that 16 of the 18 chips work perfectly fine!
Just 2 broken ones. NEAT!
Now i need just 20 instead of 36. And because i have time i will see where i can find cheap ones.
Donor:
Cleaned chips:
AST FastRAM card i have to fill (with the 2 broken chips on top):
CheckIT is happy with my rescued RAM:
Finally i made a parts bag with a boot disk, the 2 broken ics, the 16 working ics and the case screws.
