Hello,

I previously posted a request regarding a childhood game I’m trying to find, but it seems my post was removed, and I’m unsure why. I would like to kindly repost my inquiry.

The game I am searching for is a puzzle game from the late 90s or early 2000s, likely played on Windows XP. It involves a prison theme, with dark and eerie background music. At the end of levels, balloons float upward. The game had a score menu located in a dimly lit prison room, with visible prison cells in the background. I distinctly remember a black window appearing when starting the game, and I may have seen an MS-DOS icon during launch.

If anyone knows the game, any information would be much appreciated!

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,

Thank you for the suggestion of Cool Spot, but unfortunately, it is not the game I'm looking for. The game I remember has some specific features:

- The gameplay is similar to Breakout or Tetris, involving removing brick/block shapes.
- The high scores menu is set in a dark room with prison cages.
- After completing a level, a prison appears, and balloons with strings attached float upwards.
- The game launched in a black window on Windows XP.
- There was specific music playing in the high scores menu.
- I played it on Windows XP, but it might have been an MS-DOS game.

I appreciate your help and any other suggestions you might have. Thank you!

Copilot identified it as "Prison Riot"
Based on your description, the game you're thinking of might be "Prison Riot". It was a brick-breaking game similar to Breakout, with a prison theme. The high scores menu featured a dark room with prison cages, and balloons with strings appeared after completing a level.

But all I seem to find is a different game for Spectrum

Thank you for your suggestion about Prison Riot. However, the game I remember launched in a black window on Windows XP, which suggests it might have been an MS-DOS game rather than a Commodore 64 game. It had specific music in the high scores menu and featured a dark room with prison cages. After completing a level, balloons with strings would float upwards. Any other suggestions or similar games you can think of would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hi, i hope you are well.

Many things from our childhood are often different from how we remember them. It might not be but the neo geo game "puzzled" has some of those characteristics.
I hope you find it soon.

Thank you for all the suggestions so far. Just to clarify, the game I'm looking for might have been an MS-DOS game, as it launched in a black window on Windows XP. Prisoner by any chance? It involves sliding blocks around the screen to free a prisoner. I didn't play it but sounds sort of similar to what you describe.

Hello everyone,

I am searching for a game I remember playing years ago, but I can't recall its name. Here are the details I remember:

Platform: It was playable on MS-DOS or Windows XP. The executable file (.exe) had an icon that resembled the colorful MS-DOS logo.

Menu screen: The main menu featured a prison with visible cages, where the high scores were displayed. The atmosphere was dark.

Gameplay: It felt like a mix between Tetris and Arkanoid, possibly a puzzle or arcade-style game.

Distinctive feature: At the end of each level, colorful balloons floated upward, creating a striking visual contrast with the dark menu.

Launching behavior: When starting the game, it opened a black command-line-like window, similar to MS-DOS, before fully launching.

Unfortunately, neither "Dynamite Joe" nor another puzzle game recently suggested matched the game I’m looking for. I really appreciate any help or suggestions, even if they’re vague!

Thank you in advance for your time and help!

This is what the prison cages and balloons look like at the end of a level.
