I want to re-live my childhood memories when I was in my teens and purchased Ensoniq Soundscape ELITE sound card almost 30 years.

I am in Australia and they are extremely rare to non existent and I cant seem to find any on Ebay searching regularly over past few years.

Any ideas / suggestions where I can get one? Thanks!

Same. I attempted to bid on it, but it got crazy. I was also watching a business tech solutions site that had one in stock, but sold for $1000 USD. As such those are the only two Elites I've seen in years of searching.

Might be worth putting a WTB over at Amibay, that's worked for me in the past.

The Soundscape Elite is an extremely rare sound card. This is the first one I'd seen on Ebay in years.

Just looking at the bid results, there were 5 bidders willing to spend $500 (AUD) or more. That gives you an idea of what you can expect to pay when sound cards like these pop up.

You can try putting in a request at Amibay to see if anyone has one they want to sell. Though if they are paying attention to the going rate for these cards, it won't be inexpensive.

Yeah, the FM simulation was.. modest.
The SoundScape had other qualities, I vaguely remember.

Didn't it send an ACK signal via MIDI, so that a couple of intelligent MIDI games (MT-32 games) could run?
It also had a real on-board computer, I believe.

Anyway, I merely know Soundscape support via Ensoniq Audio PCI (digital audio support only).
And the emulation was rather good.
Maybe that's an alternative to a real Soundscape?
I know it's not same thing, but..

Yup, it has some (but not perfect) intelligent mode support compared to most MPU-401 implementations.

I mean price wise.

A few weeks ago : https://www.ebay.de/itm/204792581463

Auction abruptly stopped after a few days ... seller told me the card was sold "by price suggestion".

Want to guess the price ? 😁

Regardless of the price, I imagine the seller would be kicking themselves if they knew what they could have gotten for it.

Although that is the issue with not shipping worldwide. Limiting one's market will do that...

Yeah, plus he didn't even knew what he was selling. There's no mention of "Elite" at all in the title nor in the description.

For the record, he sold it for 70€.
When I asked the card was already gone... (to Australia ?! 😂)

At this time I wasn't aware that the card would reach those numbers... however I felt the seller went a bit cheap on this one !

True, not posting an accurate description of the card doesn't help.

I've occasionally lucked onto Ebay listings like those, but that's mostly just dumb luck.

That translates to ~$112 AUD. They got about 1/10th of what they could have.

Doesn't the S2000 have different wavetable samples?

The S2000 Elite has a chorus/reverb processor, and you can configure the effect parameters using MIDI commands. You can program the dry/wet mix per channel. The basic S2000 does not have an effect processor. To make the S2000 not sound too sterile, the wavetable samples of the S2000 have some amount of chorus/reverb at fixed parameters applied to them. The wavetable samples of the S2000 are not bad, but music that makes use of the programmable effects processor of the Elite will sound clearly better on the Elite.

I just found this board. My father bought it back in the days when he was making music, later gave it to me. It has been put away for many years because I didnt really know what it was until now. I have the original box, with the soundscape elite, daughterboard and floppydiscs. Everything is in mint condition, doesnt look like he used it alot or at all. I am thinking aboutt selling it or not. I kinda want to keep it for memories, but at the same time its probably worth alot.
