Strange that everybody is on that Chrome bandwagon, but i still use mainly Firefox in my main PC, and even like it more on Android, but a week ago Android Firefox had an update, and it changed a lot, and not for the best.

Main Pc of course has Chrome also, just in case. Oh and Firefox has better object viewing mode, it is easy to see behind covered pictures. If they are double objects.

I more like to know how people surf with a XP box, there are so many option and opinions. It is like choosing your desktop Linux distribution without Ubuntu.

Slimjet - Chromium-based, but not made by Google. Their old version for XP/Vista still has a relatively good website compatibility, but that gets worse over time.

I use Opera. I think I just went on a spree of trying different browsers and I liked it. I do however have to turn off pretty much every 'feature' (no I don't want a side bar with WhatsApp notifications reducing my screen space, and j don't want pop out video and sponsored "suggestions" for my next random site visit) but I like the interface.

Having said that my work PC is locked to Chrome and an out of date IE and chrome is fine too to be honest.

My work also has that same situation, well IT boys like Chrome i guess 😁

And yes Windows 10 in our work computer have both old IE and that Edge monstrossoty.

Still holding on to my Windows 7 main home PC. But for how long can i hold on, time will tell.

New edge is ok.

Definetly not better than Chrome/Fox/Opera.

I'd use Firefox if it's autocomplete wasn't broken. It's a problem they never fixed so they're out.
It's Chrome for me, stable, fast and there are lots of custom extensions.
I hate Google products because of the extreme censorship but this browser is simply good.

Firefox mainly, but also Edge which i like too

Chrome and Opera have merits too, I'll use any but firefox is just about my favoured browser

Back in the 'browser wars' days it was mainly Netscape v IE and following the whole IE monopoly accusation (which still seems strange to me in some ways) it was on trend to be against Microsoft in every aspect and become a somewhat unquestioning advocate of anything open source or anything non microsoft .

The former over sold the benefits and over promised on timescales and capabilities (just read old advocacy forums from around 2000) but those benefits slowly and surely caught up, even on the desktop PC a linux distribution such as ubuntu or mint is really good these days

Well, the latter field was dominated by Apple, who have become specialists at raising barriers to entry for their stuff, marketing it effectively and charging accordingly. It amazes me how many Apple fans still see themselves as somehow counter culture or cool, it is the very embodiment of mainstream capitalist consumerism

Meanwhile the relatively shrunken but still powerful MS has become more innovative and interesting in my opinion

However I still use Chrome for the extensions, and also because I truse Google more

I'm not sure I'd trust google more than microsoft these days!

URL bar autocomplete. When I type 'g' in Chrome it immediately completes it to gmail.com.
In Firefox it works for a while then it suddenly stops working and nobody ever gave me or anyone else a solution for this. I stopped using Firefox in 2019 because it was never solved for Windows 7, my preferred OS, but it happens to W10 users too. The forums are FILLED with this, pages after pages of the same and not a concrete solution. I already tried everything they suggested but nothing worked. It's important to me because I don't want to type in all my links when I want to visit them.
I just got tired of fiddling with settings to use such a basic feature.

The new Edge is a fantastic browser. On slower hardware, like the 1.3GHz CULV laptop I picked up at a garage sale a few weeks ago, it's noticeably faster than Chrome. The scrolling, especially on heavier websites, is much smoother. Memory usage is also significantly lower than Chrome.

It's like they combined the best of Chrome (including Chrome extension support!) with the much better hardware acceleration of the Old Edge. This marks the first time I've made a Microsoft browser my default since IE6!

I have a Pentium G2020 machine with 4GB ram bottlenecked possibly by the HDD. If I get a SSD, I think it will have an enjoyable experience on Windows 10.

The only thing I need from them is more extension support. Like I use the AHA Music extension on Chrome but isn't available on Edge

As a strong supporter of rendering engine diversity, I continue to browse using Firefox.

But what I really want to know: which browser do you use on your 486?

My attempts to browse the web using Windows 3.1 have been quite a disappointment.

MSIE 3.0 actually manages to render a few sites. Netscape 4.08 struggles with only 8MB of RAM and usually dies.

But since "HTTPS Everywhere" became a thing, these ancient browsers are a complete fail. SSL has long since been deprecated, and most mainstream websites are now refusing to serve content over plain HTTP on port 80. Even if you just want to read the newspaper.

At work I use Chrome and I hate it because of all the adds.
Don't know why Microshovelware tries to shove it's new browser down everybodies throat, that boat has sailed many years ago.
Already didn't like it because of all the celebrity gossip newsnetwork they keep shoving in my face. 😤

You are not aware that the same ad-blocking extensions are available for Chrome as are for Firefox?
