I found a topic on another forum with someone who had the exact same issue (including the software on Creative's website not wanting to run) and someone linked to the CD but that was back in 2009 and the link of course is long since dead. For him that fixed the issue so I'm hoping it will do it for me as well.

Did you try the drivers that is also available on that page?

They're the only working drivers I could even find. I just checked again to be absolutely sure with the exact same (negative result) but if you read the comments it explicitly says you need to install the CD first and THEN these programs so it seems the CD installs certain dependencies besides just drivers.

Classic Creative... I hope Disruptor can help you (and anyone else who would need it in the future)
