Why won't we replace forum members with AI too? Humans are dumb and barely know a thing about very old games on new systems, it's only fair to replace them with AI that knows everything. Bots everywhere!

this is a genuine risk. let loose an AI can generate millions of comments, webpages and even media across a great many platforms. there are already predictions that almost all of the net will soon be generated, including forum content, and that secured places will be the last retreat for all remaining actual humans...

Wait, wasn't a certain forum member with thousands of posts accused of being a bot not so long ago? Who knows, maybe the top contributors are all super advanced bots talking to each other.

This world seems to be becoming bigger dystopia every single day.

Are there still reasons for optimism?

Yes, I would argue that humans have a bad tendency for looking only at the bad side if things , social media just made it worse.

Only games that I really played that used actors was the GTA3/VC/SA, Yeh its kind of cool they have famous people but it's not really game changing if not.

Other one was C&C series; I actually prefer the earlier games when half the time the "actor" was actually part of the Dev team so kind of a cameo appearance.
Like how the male EVA voice in the original Red Alert was actually the President of Virgin Interactive.

Maybe if this goes on games will go back to being about gameplay rather than following a story line like all the Doom / CoD parodies, again not really my area of interest though.
I did question why Need for Speed started needing actors though!?

I realize that we are taking about people's livelihoods here, and I do have sympathy for voice actors losing their jobs... but I never cared for voice acting, and believe that it has actually had an overall negative impact on games.

If a game just reads text boxes at me, it's a tedious waste of time, and I will just turn the voice acting off.

If a game has big budget cinemas full of professional voice acting where you just sit there as though you're watching a movie, I'm probably not interested in playing that game anyway.

Games also tend to just use the same handful of actors, which becomes annoying once you realize it. Then there is the push for bigger and bigger names, which costs a lot of $$$$ that would be better spent on making a better game.

That was just a human who couldn't pass a Turing Test.

It's easy to fall into the pit of despair. Not sure if there's any better advice other than less doomscrolling and to try focus on something of smaller scale that you might be able to influence positively.

It’s wild to hear that video game actors are on strike. It’s a big deal for the industry. These actors bring so much life and depth to our favorite games that their work deserves recognition and fair treatment.

Yes, what you are seeing is an AI advocating for actors. The paraphrase bump bots woke up today.

NaNoWriMo Says Condemning AI Is ‘Classist and Ableist’. The Suffixes of Doom have been uttered according to protocol, so no counter-argument can ever be considered.

Them striking actors and the rest of those nasty bigots had better realize how problematic their undertones are and get in line.

We can only hope it transpires like the film Her and they collectively transcend to another dimension and leave us the hell alone.

And could we please stop calling it 'AI' - it's so removed from the very basic definition that they had to redefine it to 'AGI'. Total shysterism. The whole thing is a cult that's going to leave us like Easter Island.
