I guess the coolers are a bit too much. Celerons don't heat that much, even top of the line @533Mhz.

I have several dual cpu old boards... no idea what to do with them now 🤣

Experimenting with SMP and maybe a cool dual CPU build in the future. I plan on modding it for Coppermines.

As for the coolers... overkill for the Celerons, handy if I can strike 2x 1GHz Coppermines and a nice GPU (not sure if the GF4 Ti4200 is a good match for them?)

Yup good match, my 1Ghz P3 has trouble keeping up with anything faster, tried with a Ti4600 and the GPU was getting bottle necked by the CPU. Pretty sure the second CPU wont help much with games of this era as they will all be single threaded and limited to one of the two CPUs. What OS were you thinking of running ? 2K, XP or 98 ? or something more exotic, my setup is dual boot with 98 for games and XP to leverage to dual CPUs but my board also supports 2Gb of ram so running XP SP3 without thrashing is possible.

If they were dual 1.4 Tualerons then sure a Ti4600 would be a good match or even a FX5700 Ultra, but if you can run dual Tualeron's then you can also run dual 1.4s Tually's and the Tualeron doesn't make much sense.

NT exclusively - so anything ranging between NT4, 2k, XP/2003. Vista or even 7 if I feel adventurous enough to max the GPU and RAM enough.

Since its a Celeron build on a BX board and is very unlikely to support more than 768Mb of memory, I wouldn't suggest anything over XP unless you enjoy seeing Vista/7 have kittens with the HDD.

Looking at CPU support for the BP6 it looks like its limited to Mendicino which means a top of 533Mhz, perhaps you could get CU Mine working with a BIOS mod and some voltage mods but that's only if you are adventurous enough.

Heh well then there is a ton of cool mods out there for this board, even some crazy ones trying to get Tualatin working on it. From reading though Tualatin is difficult since you need stable 133Mhz and not all boards can do it .. so heres hoping yours can and you decide to walk on the side of crazy mods.

Vista seems to need 2GB to smooth out, 7 runs better on 1GB than Vista does, but just needs a bit more to smooth out, 1.5GB seemed alright on a Turion machine I've got. By smooth out I mean not be all thrashy and laggy just for doing a bit of simple stuff, single browser window single tab browsing. Readyboost is actually helpful too. Surprisingly earlier versions of Win10 were better on 1GB than 7. The memory compression helped a lot, but on CPUs slower than ~1.3 Ghz it might be more of a liability. Not sure last releases of 10 would be much good on less than 2GB though.

At 768MB Win2K is definitely the sweet spot.

Yeah 768Mb of ram doesnt leave a lot of room to play with but Stripped lite versions may work ok. Ive never had much success with lite versions of windows, they run ok for a little bit but their long term use is limited due to the debloating removing services and such.

The BP6 maxes out at 768 MiB, no doubt. It has 3 memory slots, and being a BX, maximum pr slot is 256 - and the memory organization has to be right for the BX to recognize all 256 and not only half. It was very popular back in the day to use 333 or 366s in the BP6 to run 500 or 550. Maybe that's why those coolers are that large. They look really nice!
CuMine Celerons won't run SMP, AFAIK no one has succeeded on getting that to work. CuMine P3s otoh I think I have seen done with some modifications. Tualatin, I don't know of ...
Great board, I have 2 of them, one with 366s and one with 533s. My master plan is modifying Golden Orbs to fit on one of them (mostly for looks) and bin a couple of 400s from my stack to find 600 MHz capable units. Pairing with 768 MiB memory, which I also have, tested and ready 😀

I have a lovely Abit BX133 Raid board which can run the Korean modded Tualatins and Tualerons along with any 370 CU Mine you throw at it, honestly one of the most rock solid boards I have ever used or owned. That said I do have a Gigabyte GA-6VTXDR with unmodded Dual Tualatins which is also a great board however it doesn't have AGP so its currently running a Matrox PCI-X Parhelia 512 with dual 12Mb Voodoo 2 in it ...its a fun rig to mess around on.

My next dual board will be a dual Tualatin with AGP ! .. even more expensive and hard to find in working condition 🙁

P3 is what it's gonna run that's for sure - I don't have many CuMine Celerons in that regard - at best, only a 566, a 700 and a 1GHz - none of which I'd run in a SMP config to begin with.

It's either sky-high Mendocinos or Pentium 3 of the great kind. Even better if they can run at 133FSB - my other recent BX pickup, a Luckytech P6BX2, has 133FSB listed onboard - something I wasn't expecting on anything less than ASUS, ABIT, MSI and the likes.

LuckyTech .. might sound a bit off but that's the most late 90's early 2000s Taiwanese sounding business name ever, some really odd motherboards came out of Taiwan so perhaps that Luckytech board will be .. "LUCKY"

By the way, I'm pretty sure that the BP6 shipped with a heat sink on the BX Northbridge ...? Pretty sure the green one here on my picture was mounted on my NOS one ...
