The "sticker" mod feels like the right way to go. Afterward, the sound is very authentic and nostalgic without being obtrusive. Defragging is more fun again, hehe.

Very happy to hear !

Has anyone received their HDD Clickers yet?

I'm in Canada and mine purportedly shipped back on Oct 29th. It's now Nov 26th and I've yet to receive anything.

I have ordered from Serdashop before without issue, but I don't recall it taking quite this long to receive things.

I was just wondering about mine as well. Ordered on Nov 11th I think? But it is international shipping during the holiday season, among other more existential problems.

I checked against a few orders around the same time from Europe. Other than one item shipping via DHL (which I find usually takes up to 8 weeks), everything else I've ordered from late-Oct/early-Nov has already arrived.

At any rate, not much to do but just keep an eye on the mail and hope for the best.

shipping seems slow at this time, but it will come, i'm sure.

Retro Erik made a review of HDD Clicker, also comparing the different 'volume' options :

I just got mine today! Mounted it in a Fractal Pop Mini Silent, behind the rear panel. First impressions are that between the insulation of the case and the sticker over the clicker, it sounds great connected to my NuXT.

Noticed that these are now for sale locally here in Japan from one of the big doujin hardware sites. Are these official partner sales or did they just buy a big lot for reselling?

Tested out an HDD Clicker in my Tandy 1000 TL2. The default sound is a bit loud so I added a piece of foam above the speaker to quiet it down.

Did some brief testing with a few games and I am liking it. Since the Tandy has no HDD light, having some audio cues when the CF card is active is nice.

They bought some clickers to try out reselling in Japan.
Super cool you noticed them, I'm glad they arrived safely in Japan 😉

Nice to know they are authorized. If they carry your other products it will save me a ton of money due to the terribly weak yen. 😀

I finally got to install mine. It works great - 3D print clicked nicely together without needing screws too.

Only "problem" I had was the fact that older PCs didn't use standard headers yet. Mine combined power LED with HDD LED which meant I had to splice the cable and check to see which cable was for which LED.

I didn't use a regular sticker (it still sounded too sharp) but instead I used a dampening sticker - the kind you put underneath objects to stop them scratching the surface. This muffles it a bit more because I felt the ticking was too shrill (& high pitched) compared to a real hard drive. Even after this I think the tone is too high - some drives may have sounded like that but most I know sounded a few tones lower. The muffling prevents it from standing out too much though.

and when i remember that people at the very start of this thread were worried it wouldn't be loud enough. 😁
does anyone actually use additional speaker with HDD Clicker? 😀

There's only two pins for the extra sound device and I couldn't find any documentation on this so I steered clear.
