Re: Voodoo 3 DirectX problems...?

In the case of the Voodoo3 1.09-beta10, DirectX 8.1 must be installed. Whoa! After installing DirectX 8.1 dxdiag made my screen flicker and turned the desktop trippy colors, and Display tab shows no acceleration of any kind at all, not even DirectDraw. Well that's... Less than before. 640x400 mode …

Voodoo 3 DirectX problems...?

I just got my first Voodoo card, a Voodoo 3 3000 AGP SDR, running it on my Pentium 3 440BX system, Windows 98SE. This is a new thing to me (I only ran ATI and SiS cards back in 9x days) so no need to knock me if I ask a seemingly silly question about Voodoo. I'm using 1.09-beta10 drivers, and with …

Re: Setting up AWE32 on Windows 98

Something is still very wrong, it's too quiet. In the mixer I have synth turned all the way up, and music turned all the way up in games, still, I have to turn sound effects all the way down just to hear the music. I didn't have this problem in Windows 3.11 or in DOS games.

How to get AWE32 working in RoadRash?

RoadRash (1996 Windows) includes AWE32 support, has custom SBK soundfonts and SBK MIDIs, and aweman32.dll file. I, however, have no luck getting my AWE32 to use those files. I know for sure because the game ignores when I remove the SBK MIDI files, it plays the regular ones, and only complains when …

Re: Setting up AWE32 on Windows 98

I installed from the driver CD. There were problems with volume level on and off, but worse, I installed RealAudio player bundled on the AWE32 driver CD and it broke video playback in games! It damaged my system and I don't know how to fix that. Uninstalling did not fix video playback that was …

Setting up AWE32 on Windows 98

I've previously used my CT3600 with Windows 3.11 and I had the AWE Control Panel where I could make adjustments like chorus and reverb, and load a custom soundfont. I'm missing this functionality on Windows 98 with AWE32 drivers I installed from philscomputerlab.com MIDI music sounds terrible. I see …

AWE Control Panel not showing memory

My old hardware was boxed up for 6 years or so, I've moved twice during that time. Just unpacked and trying to get everything working again. Plus I have some new additions. I have a SIMM in the slot next to the edge of my SB32 (CT3600). I definitely did have it working at one point about 6 years ago …

Re: VGA feature connector pinout?

Babasha wrote on 2022-11-12, 06:16: Do you test feature connector with any connected card? Don't have anything for that connector. I was just testing for a short, since someone cannibalized the pins from the header many moons ago. The card is fixed now.

Re: VGA feature connector pinout?

I have repaired the card by reworking the pins on the video chip. What gave me a hint is a "tweezer trick" that helps you find loose pins. Basically you're supposed to run something across the pins and listen. Except I actually applied too much force and bent the pins sideways a little. Fixing some …

Re: Anybody tried this with your MT-32?

My MT-32 ("old" rev.01) arrived and I tested it out on it. It's pretty good. Mine sounds pretty quiet compared to my SC-55...? So quiet in fact that I might need to add an amplifier just for the input to amplified speakers. Anybody else's? Does anyone know any graphical/pseudographical editor/ …

Re: SC-55 questions

I checked inside my MT-32 and it uses a Mitsubishi 7805 (an LM7805 version), so should also be good for 12VDC, in theory. This one seems an ideal candidate for adding a heatsink since it's already in a harness off the board. I think I'll eventually run my MIDI stack off 12V from the PC.

VGA feature connector pinout?

Does anyone have a pinout the VGA feature connector? I'm trying to resurrect an AGP Cirrus Logic CL-GD5465 based card that had it's feature connector header cannibalized for header pins some decades ago... I'm probing to see if any of the pins are shorted to anywhere. I found unexpected grounds on …

Re: SC-55 questions

I bought the cheaper USB interface above and no problems at all, my unit works perfectly. Hearing exactly what I expected. I have not powered it with 12V from the PC yet, need to get some barrel pigtail cables to make that happen. I'm honestly not expecting any problems considering the regulator …
