well question about OpenGL is interesting , its 1992 technology and earliest usage i found is on glint 1995 demos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KOKNz8AkMY
and the earliest Direct3D games should be very good supported in dgVoodoo2
Too bad this list not included S3 Metal API i gathered probably everything S3 Savage MeTal API 3D Accelerated Games List
and there is PowerSGL2 API but only some demos use it, no games know, and probably they not exist.

PS: maybe you know how many games were game for Midas3? If there launch titles or games made before PCX1.

Only the two launch titles that were bundled with Compaq. The Midas3 is just an early PCX1 and will run other PowerSGL games than those two that came bundled (Mechwarrior 2 and Flight Unlimited).

There were at least two games that my father had that seemed to be meant just for the ATI Rage Pro:

Lunatik- A standard futuristic shoot-em-up/scavenger hunt to find the goal villain. Definitely made for the Rage Pro, because it used the ATI logo in its intro.

Team Apache (A military wargames simulator. Never played this. Too awkward for me.)

but for Team Apache it might be planned , but for now i never seen any rage working version
Re: Games with unreleased support on 3D Blaster/NV1/PowerVR/Rendition

There is actually a Lunatik CD with an ATi logo on it for sale on eBay right now...

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

I own this CD, the game is Direct3D only as far as I can remember and it's basically a techdemo of a game that was cancelled (read more here: https://www.unseen64.net/2020/11/16/lunatik-p … ment-cancelled/ ).

I would suggest disambiguating the following abbreviations in the first post:

  • 3D Blaster (Creative Graphics Library)
  • Matrox Mystique (Matrox Simple Interface)
  • ATi 3D CIF (C Interface)

By the way, does anyone know of any games that used Intergraph RenderGL? I just came across this echo from the past:

"RenderGL uses OpenGL to accelerate the rendering of complex images" so its just fancy name for openGL?

Says that it’s a graphics library in the link:

“In addition, Nichimen is licensing Intergraph’s RenderGL open graphics library to incorporate into future releases of its new Windows NT-based software.”

OpenGL handles the task of interfacing with the hardware to render the primitives for a scene but doesn’t handle the tasks of loading or managing that scene - the 3d models, textures, memory management etc. So it’s fairly typical to build a library of functionality over OpenGL to do those higher level tasks.

It seems to be built on top of OpenGL. Some old Intergraph manuals and ads for their hardware claim a certain level of "support for OpenGL, RenderGL and Heidi acceleration". For example:
https://wpitt.fortunecity.ws/intense.html
http://vgamuseum.info/images/doc/intergraph/w … 0_userguide.pdf

I've also managed to find the following descriptions of this technology using Google Books:

1. IEEE Computer Graphics and Applications (1996.05)

RenderGL Enables “Real-Time Reality”
Intergraph Computer Systems announced RenderGL, a graphics library with an open API. RenderGL, running on top of OpenGL, can accelerate 3D model rendering with Phong shading, bump maps, 3D texturing, and shadows up to 16 times faster than workstations with OpenGL alone, said the company, which provides high levels of photorealistic image quality. RenderGL is integral to RealiZm 3D graphics, incorporated in the company’s TDZ workstations. RenderGL has an associated software developer’s kit available. Intergraph offers RenderGL on its TDZ and StudioZ 3D graphics workstations as part of their RealiZm 3D graphics technology. Visit their Web site at http://www.intergraph.com.

2. CG 101: A Computer Graphics Industry Reference (1999)

RenderGL
RenderGL works with 3D Studio MAX as a fast ray tracing preview renderer. It works very fast for tweaking complicated scenes before using the final full software raytracer in MAX. This product is available from Intergraph, which is located in Huntsville, Alabama, and can be reached at 800-763-0242 or www.intergraph.com.

Need For Speed 3 works with ATi 3D CIF also, just make nfs3.bat file with nfs3.exe - ragepro in it and it uses rage pro mode, it needs ragea.dll inside main nfs3 folder, that i took from NHL 99. Menu is buggy right now, but the game can be configured well @ nfs3 graphics settings, it is using CIF, thats for sure. After nfs3.bat execute my driver or setup at the moment needs resolution or color depth change from windows and then game starts normally @cif. You can see all the other nfs3 -commands if you make mistake in the command line. If i rename windows/system/ati3dcif.dll file the game does not start and gives error, also nfs3.bat and the graphics look different with cif vs d3d or software mode. Many other -command options available for nfs3.

Need For Speed (NFS4) does not have -ragepro command support, but even there it is possible to trick it and start cif mode, menu text is unreadable, but game playable with screen errors , i just used quickly d3d and voodoo2 names for ragea.dll (nba 99) file and removed 3dsetup folder for my quick test and the same color depth or resolution change needed to start ati 3d cif mode with nfshs.exe.

NFS3 works better out of the box with ATi 3D CIF!

Someone has more Rage 3rash Modules (ragea.dll) files?
