Re: MUS-1099 GameBlaster Sound Card

I'm afraid you linked me the wrong part. I need the blue .22 uF ceramic cap. Well I suspect the young guy behind the counter is just an idiot. Happend quite a few times I asked him if they got a part in stock, he said no and I found it 5 minutes later by searching myself.. Anyway still happy there …

Re: MUS-1099 GameBlaster Sound Card

I recived my kit yestetday. Everything looked good and I already soldered the card and its working! I had a little fuck up though, I accidentally destroyed one of the 22µF ceramic caps which goes on C15/C16. The local shop (of cause) doesn't have this typ of cap in stock.. I've got this 22 µF …

Re: Good PCI sound card for music

I have a D2x, the PCIe version of the Asus Xonar D2 and while its great sounding, especially if your into playing with its software feature like virtual headphone surround thingy, its Linux Support is barebones, it works and thats about it last time I checked. I wouldn't bet on it sounding any …

Re: I need help with ET3000AX artifacting.

Can't spot any bad solder points or cracks or damaged traces anyhwhere. Could you post some well-lit, high resolution photos of both sides of the card? There you go. I can try again if necessary. https://www.dropbox.com/s/6rin7lcls9yo6i2/et3000ax.rar?dl=0 I also tried the oven trick with one of the …

Re: I need help with ET3000AX artifacting.

Played a bit with the cards today. The new artifacting from my last post is gone again, I guess thats good. I tested all the memory chips in my known good card and they all work fine. I also tested another DAC on one of the cards. Can't spot any bad solder points or cracks or damaged traces …

Re: I need help with ET3000AX artifacting.

After spending at least an hour swapping memory chips left and right I realized that I do have a card which uses the same memory and is known good. Well long story short it's not the memory. Swapped the memory in from the know good card and it's still artifacting, swapped it back and the other card …

Re: I need help with ET3000AX artifacting.

I'm still guessing it's memory (can you swap them with known good ones from another card?) or eventually filter caps. Well only one of my cards has socketed memory and while I do have a card which also has this memory socketed its dead and has only half the amount of chips so not really is the …

I need help with ET3000AX artifacting.

I recently bought three ET3000AX cards , but since initial testing all three started to artifact (maybe I just didn't notice earlier, though, I just quickly checked for a signal and called it a day). I have no experience with troubleshooting such old cards so any help would be appreciated. My first …

Re: Voodoo 1 vs. Voodoo 2 on a 486

Are you able to run your system with 3-1-1-1 and see what the L2 result is in cachechk? I played with all 3 cache settings a bit. - Write Cycle on 3 doesn't affect L2 at all, main memory speed drops to 46.1 though. - Burst Cycle on 2 drops L2 perfromance so hard that cachechk doesn't recognize it …
