Re: Muffled percussion instruments in DOSBox

@Mok Thanks for the clarification. I believe 'a simple resampling bridge' may appear a source of enough change in the frequency spectra. And the overdrive distortions as well. But the real issue with the 'muffled' sounding which MoM doesn't really want to hear is exactly the imperfection of the …

Re: Muffled percussion instruments in DOSBox

Also I'm curios now in which way HooT uses the munt library, as it sounds very crisp, and doesn't have the problems DOSBox has. I'll ask on the HooT thread above :D Hoot uses munt directly without any changes, there's a simple resampling bridge (the source code is included with hoot, as they cannot …

Re: Munt Reloaded - Development

Then MT32.DRV is a weird name for the driver. :) Yeah, but he didn't write the tracker nor the driver himself :) TBH I don't think anyone cared much about sending instrument names to the synth... I vaguely remember some games sent random trash instead of names. Fix pushed. Thanks! This fixed minor …

Re: Munt Reloaded - Development

ok: Awesome. I think Barry set the master volume a bit too loud. Making it down to 70 prevents overdrives on my CM-64. Overdrives in Munt is another matter. He set reverb ROOM/7/7 at the beginning and DELAY/7/7 further that's quite loud too, and it is mixed down with the LA32's output in integer ( …

Re: Extract MIDI from Accolade DAT files?

in Milliways
I tried using an old Accolade player for the MUS format and they didn't play.. Is there any way to convert them? Most likely at least 2 of these are too old (early version of accolade format). Lost in LA uses newer version but I don't know what's supported by that player. And no, I don't know of …

Re: Extract MIDI from Accolade DAT files?

in Milliways
What are 'Hoot' drivers and how did you extract that raw music from DAT files? Hoot is a crappy closed-source japanese emulator for various sound systems (including various obscure japanese machines, arcades and poor emulation of pc sound systems). In short it's a simplistic player for game music …

Re: Munt Reloaded - Development

There is a lot of crackling on the real mt32 module (old version) in this whole song. (similar to new munt) On the real cm32l module the crackling starts from about 1 minute 45 seconds but is mostly less noticeable than in mt32. Thanks for testing. I guess this might become a victim of perfect …

Spikey wrote: Altered Destiny and the 2 Les Manley games are what I'm looking for, by the way. Thanks in advance for what you do have. Sure. Here are my old Hoot drivers for these games. Attempting to run any code from the archives will result in a crash, but the raw songs are in *.mus files.

Re: Extract MIDI from Accolade DAT files?

in Milliways
I got turned onto (pun not intended) some of Accolade's older titles, such as Les Manley and Altered Destiny. Their music is stored in DAT files, but I have no idea how to extract it. I tried a lot of general programs but no avail. I can record using DOSBox (and have), but there are reasons why …

Re: Munt Reloaded - Development

Hey Sergm, I've noticed a song that started to crackle for me in Hoot using recent versions of munt. I've converted my hoot driver to dos and tried a recent dosbox with newest munt and it crackles too. It's a FOFT title song by Barry Leitch from an unreleased pc port of the game. Attached is the dos …

Re: Munt Reloaded - Development

I pushed a change removing emulation of that bug, since I was unable to reproduce it on my CM-32L. I couldn't find anything we're doing that could cause the bug to be hit when it wouldn't be on the real thing. Mok did double-check to make sure that he'd accurately documented the bug at the time, so …

Re: Munt Reloaded - Development

Strangely... Commit f4f2336790157d0ffaab was intended to get rid of this :/ Weird. It seems the download on the git page isn't updated immediately after each commit as I downloaded the source about 15 hours ago (after your last commits) and it does not include last changes. Sorry for the noise. It …

Re: Munt Reloaded - Development

After updating to latest git source (with modified reverb code), I'm getting crash in the hoot driver I use. I traced it to revmodel being called with uninitialized/random scaletuning value (negative one). It seems reverbmodel->reset is called before initial setting of reverb parameters.

Try checking some games that heavily use mode 3 reverb, for example in The Humans level 1 music, echo is hardly audible compared to previous version (and LAPC recordings from http://cosmic- …

Re: Sounds missing in Epic (DID) when using MT-32

Edit: @Mok, ah I see, was still writing at the time you answered :) That might be a solution, thanks for helping out! Do you think DOSBox can emulate the LAPC1 with those roms? Do I need to specify something special in the configuration? Or rename them? If the roms are named just like in my …
