To echo Joseph_Joestar's point, it really depends on how you define your cut-off point for Win 98 gaming. There are games up to the mid-2000's that still supported Windows 98. My first guess would be corrosion or possibly a broken solder joint in the audio out jack. You could try cleaning the audio jack with some Deoxit or tuning knob cleaner. If it's not one of those, then my next guess would be a faulty component in the right channel of the audio circuit.

Midi is data, not audio. If you want to route audio into your computer, you need to connect audio out from the SC-55 to the line input on your soundcard.

I was actually wondering if the Orpheus driver itself could be modified. Or is that not something that would be possible in this instance? Though I'm assuming since Unisound also produces the same result this is just one of those fundamental incompatibilities between the game and sound card.
